Assisted or manual?
A spring assisted knife finishes the opening for you once you start it with the flipper or thumb stud. A manual folder opens only as far as your thumb pushes it. Both lock open with a liner lock; neither is an automatic switchblade.

What 58–60 HRC means
Hardness on the Rockwell C scale. Our 440C blades sit at 58–60: hard enough to keep an edge through a season of box tape and apples, soft enough to bring back on a plain whetstone.

Blades under three inches
Several of our folders keep the blade under 3 inches with no spring. That is the size most U.S. states treat as an ordinary tool — still, check the rules where you live and travel.
Good to know
Which of your knives are spring assisted?
The safety-lock flipper, the tanto heavy duty, the wood-handle glass breaker and the fire starter survival knife all open with spring assist. Their product pages say so in the first line.
Can I remove the pocket clip?
Yes. Most of our folders ship with a removable clip; the tanto models even include a spare screw and a screwdriver.
Do the knives come sharp?
Yes, sharpened and ready. A few strokes on a fine stone every few weeks keeps them that way.
